We absolutely loved watching the Rising Tides event at the Surf Ranch Pro. The WSL and Pura Vida came together to give a group of girls, 12 years and under, an opportunity to surf the wave pool before the contest and then hang with the pros. Meeting women like Carissa Moore is inspiring for these young girls starting out and helps them further their surf goals. We love to see the community empower more women in surfing!
Our friend Presley-Roze Schillmoeller (only 9 years old) participated in this event and had a blast! She ended last year ranking 3rd place overall in her division at the West Coast Championships. As a result, she was invited to surf in the WSL event at the KS wave pool. They let her surf on a right and a left…. (Prior to the semi heats for the pros). She surfed great and ripped on her Rusty Twin Fin as she went left and did 3 little snaps and the crowd applauded her surfing. This is such an uplifting experience especially with all the scoring controversy that occurred after this event. We want to continue to uplift women in surfing along with highlighting the next generation of surfers.
