WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
When Zoe McDougall came aboard the Rusty team earlier this year, we were all excited at the possibilities. This young woman from the North Shore of Oahu is the complete package and her surfing is on par with the best women surfers in the world.
This past week at Hale'iwa Beach Park, McDougall took on the worlds best and came out on top in a smoking final in 4-6' quality surf.
McDougall claimed her first QS 1000 win at the World Surf League (WSL) The Hawaiian Islands HIC Haleiwa Pro.
In todays Surf News Network story they said, "A world-class Final featured McDougall, 2024 Championship Tour (CT) standout Betty-Lou Sakura Johnson (HAW), 2024 CT rookie Alyssa Spencer (USA), former CT competitor Luana Silva (BRA), and perennial QS threat McDougall. A brilliant opening wave from McDougall set the tone with her powerful forehand to post a 7.50 (out of a possible 10). But, Haleiwa’s own Sakura Johnson put her CT form on full display to post an excellent 8.25 and take the lead from McDougall before Spencer was able to answer with a decimating backhand attack, posting a 7.25 and the lead and the win."
Zoe had just received her Hawaiian quiver and had only just surfed her new 6' Rusty Underdog model that morning of the final. The board looked like magic under her feat as she took home the win at her favorite wave.
Congrats Zoe!
